Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect instructional services to AIG students who demonstrate a need for differentiation in core subjects
- Plan a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Organize enrichment experiences to develop potential within students and enhance the learning experience
- Model differentiation strategies
- Work closely with teachers and other staff members to integrate AIG services in regular educational settings
- Coordinate, administer, and interpret appropriate testing for identification of AIG students
- Facilitate staff development to ensure school staff is aware of best practices for AIG students
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by AIG plan
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment materials, and facilities
- Follow and implement all East Wake Academy’s policies and procedures
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
- Communicate expectations clearly
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth
- Co-teach with other staff members
- Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

The physical activity of this position.
- Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time. Approximate Duration 8 hours.
- Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
